Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program
The purpose of this fund is to provide support for the priorities of the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program.
Our current funding priority is supporting the university’s Reproductive Justice Research Collaborative (RJRC). The funds will be used to support graduate and undergraduate students in various research assistant roles. Student research assistants will allow the RJRC to increase the support of our grassroots partner organizations and Northeastern’s existing reproductive justice scholars while providing valuable opportunities for students to collaborate with faculty and RJ practitioners. The RJRC connects local advocates with interdisciplinary researchers to provide timely and robust data and initiate targeted projects in response to specific needs. The RJRC presently serves Boston and California's Bay Area through collaborative partnerships with several local advocacy organizations working on reproductive justice in these two locales. In the future, several additional regions - anchored by other Northeastern campuses - could be served by the project as well. Giving to this fund would help us reach that goal.
The Reproductive Justice Research Collaborative (RJRC) project is co-led by a team of scholar activists from across Northeastern’s programs - Africana Studies, English, Ethnic Studies, Health Sciences, History, Journalism, Public Policy and Urban Affairs, Political Science, Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, and the Northeastern University School of Law.
The fund will be used at the discretion of the program director to respond to emerging priorities of WGSS and the RJRC.
